The homestead is located in the rolling
hills of North Carolina close to the City of Wilkesboro, approximately 20 mi.
west of interstate 77, about one hour North of Charlotte North Carolina.
Descendants from this branch of the
John Carlton is believed to have arrived on
the East Coast of North Carolina/Va. and to have
located initially along the Mattepani River.
Thereafter the migration continued through Va. to North Carolina.
The annual reunion is held usually on the
third Saturday of June, however it is subject to change, therefore, please
contact one of us to verify the exact date. The reunion is held on the grounds
of the restored homeplace, on Pete Carlton Road.
Memberships in the corporation are open to
all descendants of Charles Carlton, of Wilkes County North Carolina. We
encourage other branches of the Carlton family to notify us of similar
associations or corporations. Charles Carlton, Fla., has provided us with
records outlining portions of that family tree.
