On behalf of the Carlton family, Welcome! to the Carlton family Web page.

This branch of the Carlton family is traced back to Wilkes County North Carolina, where the Charles Carlton Homestead is still located today. A corporation has been established to preserve and protect the home place, cemeteries, and other items needing preservation. The President of the corporation is Pete Carlton who lives next to the homestead located at Boomer North Carolina. Across the Valley from the homestead is the cemetery. Other members of the Board Of Directors include Juanna Carlton Wooten, of Winston-Salem North Carolina, Robert Carlton, Atty., retired Colonel Charles Carlton, of Va., Charles Carlton, of Kentucky.

The homestead is located in the rolling hills of North Carolina close to the City of Wilkesboro, approximately 20 mi. west of interstate 77, about one hour North of Charlotte North Carolina.

Descendants from this branch of the Carlton family are known to have relocated to areas in Kentucky, W. Va., Virginia, Oklahoma, and Texas.

John Carlton is believed to have arrived on the East Coast of North Carolina/Va. and to have located initially along the Mattepani River. Thereafter the migration continued through Va. to North Carolina.

The annual reunion is held usually on the third Saturday of June, however it is subject to change, therefore, please contact one of us to verify the exact date. The reunion is held on the grounds of the restored homeplace, on Pete Carlton Road.

Memberships in the corporation are open to all descendants of Charles Carlton, of Wilkes County North Carolina. We encourage other branches of the Carlton family to notify us of similar associations or corporations. Charles Carlton, Fla., has provided us with records outlining portions of that family tree.
